Water you doing here?

141.
That's the number of litres YOU, the daily Singaporean, uses daily. That’s 94 1.5 litre bottles of water a day.
Singapore's target is to lower this to 130 litres by 2030. Do you think you can achieve this by then?

1.6 per cent
70% of the Earth is covered in water. But only 2% is fresh water, and 1.6% of it is locked in polar ice caps and glacier. And that leaves the world...0.4% to survive. 7 billion people, with 0.4% of fresh water to survive. Do you think that's enough for us to live on?

2,113
Guess what? That's the number of gallons that go into producing the jeans you're wearing right now. Those Levis look good, but were you aware of the water wastage behind it?

In my line of work, I repair water leaks daily and I witness the water wastage from faulty pipes and leaky faucets. Singaporeans will have to start becoming more aware if we don't want to run out of clean drinking water.

It hasn't really occurred that Singapore didn't have our own supply of water until NEWater since Singaporeans are always so comfortable with our privilege, but it's time for us to be concerned.

Water is such an integral part of us, even our bodies are made out of 70% water! We, humans, need water to survive, and it's clear that the water situation in Singapore is a crisis.

About Us

We are a group of Temasek Polytechnic students from the course Communications in Media Management. Our aim for this project is to encourage awareness for water sustainability for youths all around sunny Singapore, especially in the aspect of fashion and apparel.
Singaporeans have made great progress in recent years embracing wise water use as a daily habit. But our island’s water future remains uncertain due to the nature of its small size and a changing climate. It is more critical than ever that we adopt sustainability, embrace new approaches and technology, and work together to save water for a secure future. We hope you’ll join us on this journey for water sustainability and maintain a dripless drip just by taking small steps!
